Seminar Outline This Aviation Training Seminar is open to all aviation professionals with an interest in Airline Revenue Management. Revenue management and pricing policy are some of the most important core competencies of airline operations today. Revenue management can have a dramatic impact on both airline revenue and brand loyalty. It lets us identify different market segments so that we can differentiate our service to different passengers, at different prices. This Aviation Training Seminar (ATS) will cover the most important revenue management issues in the current environment.

Dr. Bijan Vasigh, Professor, Department of Aviation Business Administration, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Dr. Bijan Vasigh is professor of Economics and Finance in the Department of Business Administration at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach Florida and a Managing Director at Aviation Consulting Group, LLC. Dr. Vasigh received a Ph.D. degree in Economics from the State University of New York in 1984, and he has written and published many articles concerning the aviation industry. The articles have been published in numerous academic journals such as the Handbook of Airline Economics, Journal of Economics and Finance, Journal of Transportation Management, Transportation Quarterly, Airport Business, Journal of Business and Economics, and Journal of Travel Research. He was consultant with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and provided assistance on evolution of aeronautical charge structure for the Brazilian Institute of Civil Aviation (IAC). He is a member of editorial board of Journal of Air Transport Management, the Southwest Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics and Journal of Air Transportation World Wide. He is currently a member of the international faculty at the IATA Learning Center, where he is faculty leader of the Airline Finance and Accounting Management.

Dr. Hossein Tavana, Manager, Revenue Management Science Group, Carnival Cruise Lines; previously Operations Research Manager at Continental Airlines Dr. Hossein Tavana received his Master of Science in Transportation Engineering from Wayne State University in Detroit in 1996 and earned his PhD in 2001 in the same field from the University of Texas at Austin. He also received a Master of Science in Finance with a minor in Economics from Florida International University in Miami in 2009. He worked as the Manager of Operations Research/Revenue Management at Continental Airlines from February 2001 to September 2005, when he moved to Miami to work with Carnival Cruise Lines. He has been working as the Manager of the Revenue Management Science group at Carnival Cruise Lines since then. Dr. Tavana has published articles in several peer-reviewed research journals and has presented in many conferences. He was an active participant of PODS (Passenger O&D Simulation) research consortium consisting of MIT and seven major airlines. Dr. Tavana is also a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
